#Bsnes not recognizing controller windows
Oh joy, I just noticed that as of Mednafen v0.9.25 my NES-to-USB-adapter from retrousb completely works now! To reiterate: In every other Windows version before, I experienced that Mednafen would only see the DPad presses, not A, B, Start and Select. You could try running a non-SDL program that uses WinMM joystick access(games that use the library known as SFML might) and see if it works properly. I'm thinking it's a problem with SDL, or a problem with the USB adapter and WinMM joystick access. Any new ideas as to why that might be? Could it have something to do with the windows-version of SDL?Ĭould you try running jstest under Linux with the joystick device corresponding to the RetroUSB device, and copy/paste the output here?Īxes: 0: 0 1: 32767 Buttons: 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:off 4:off 5:off 6:off 7:off Mednafen (under Windows only, not Linux) is the only app that does not register A, B, Select or Start.

Mednafen only registers the dpad-presses, not the other 4 buttons! My Windows 7 on the other hand sees all the buttons just fine and they all work inside just about every other app (Nestopia, bsnes, MAME, etc.). I too got an NES-to-USB-adapter from retrousb but I can't use it with the windows-version of Mednafen.
Hey folks! Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I just noticed this behavior still exists even with the newest Mednafen! I have to go back to the old emulator because of it
If you guys want to give me any sort of debug build with some logging, I wouldn't mind running it. :( It's a shame, I want to switch to this emu so bad for my home threater system. I think the emulator just doesn't recognize them. I copied the values for the first 4 buttons and replugged in my NES controller, but that didn't work.

I plugged in my XBOX controller that uses a special driver and it detected those button presses correctly. I've had similar problems reported before in recent versions with Windows.Ĭould you try 0.6.4 and 0.6.5, and see if the problem exists there too(the key for configuring buttons on the first emulated gampad is F3 in those versions)? Re: SHIFT-ALT-1 doesn't detect my controller button presses
Other emus see these fine, and in the control panel->game controller config utility shows it is working too.Īny ideas? I would have just modified the CFG file directly but i don't know what hex value to put in for each corresponding buttons. It maps the UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT of the pads, but wont recognize the SELECT, START, A, B buttons.
It's a simple 1 axis 4 button controller. It identifies the controller in windows xp with no special drivers. I'm using the NES adapter from RETROUSB that lets me plug in my original NES controller into the USB slot.
